Cambs Windows and Doors Limited – Guarantee Terms
Commencement date: the date of completion of installatio
This Guarantee applies to the supply and installation of new windows and doors by Cambs Windows and Doors Limited (“the Company”). It is subject to the customer carrying out all recommended maintenance and is generally non-transferable, unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Company.
1. uPVC Windows and Doors
Coverage: Welded corner joints and frame sections.
Duration: 10 years from the commencement date.
Details: Covers failure of welded joints or frame distortion. “Welded joints” refers to factory-melted, pressed corners typical of uPVC manufacturing.
Exclusions: Damage from misuse, accidental impact, unauthorised alterations, neglect of maintenance, or environmental extremes (e.g., salt corrosion).
Transferability: Original customer only.
2. Aluminium Windows and Doors
Coverage: Frame corner and joint construction (mechanically-fastened or reinforced bracketed joints).
Duration: 10 years from the commencement date.
Details: Covers failure of joints or frame distortion due to manufacturing defects. Aluminium frames are not welded, so the guarantee applies to mechanical or reinforced joint failure.
Exclusions: Same as uPVC.
Transferability: Original customer only.
3. Timber Windows and Doors (External Joinery)
Coverage: Timber components (splitting, warping, fungal attack, rot).
Duration: 10 years from commencement.
Painted finishes: 5 years for standard colours; 2 years for black or dark grey.
Stained finishes: 2 years for translucent, solid, or opaque factory stains.
Exclusions: Damage from misuse, accidental impact, neglect of maintenance, unauthorised alterations, or environmental extremes.
Transferability: Original customer only.
4. Sealed Glazed Units
Coverage: Hermetic seal failure (internal misting/fogging).
Duration: 5 years from commencement.
Exclusions: Breakage after installation, damage from impact, structural movement, normal condensation on internal surfaces, and minor imperfections within Glass & Glazing Federation visual standards.
Transferability: Original customer only.
5. Hardware (Locks, Hinges, Handles, Moving Parts)
Coverage: Manufacturing defects affecting function.
Duration: 1 year from commencement.
Exclusions: Cosmetic deterioration (scratches, fading, tarnish), misuse, lack of maintenance, or unauthorised alteration.
Transferability: Original customer only.
6. Composite Door Slabs
Coverage: Delamination and distortion.
Duration: 5 years from commencement.
Colour fading: 2 years from commencement.
Exclusions: Scratches, impact damage, misuse, neglect, or environmental extremes.
Transferability: Original customer only.
7. Conditions for Guarantee Validity
- Full payment of the installation contract must be made.
- Customer must follow manufacturer and Company maintenance instructions.
- Customer must notify the Company in writing of any claim within 30 days of discovery.
- Customer must allow the Company access to inspect products for claim validation.
- Repairs or replacements are at the Company’s discretion. Consequential damage or labour beyond what is agreed is not covered.
- The guarantee will be voided in cases of misuse, unauthorised alteration, accident, or failure to maintain.
8. General Exclusions
- Normal wear and tear, aesthetic blemishes not affecting performance, or tolerable manufacturing variations.
- Structural movement of the building, fire, flood, storm, or other force majeure events.
- Work or replacement carried out by unauthorised persons.
9. Retention of Title
All goods remain the property of the Company until payment is received in full and cleared. Customers hold goods as bailee until that time.
10. Supply Only
- For Supply only customers all products sold as “Supply Only” meaning Cambs Windows and Doors did not install the products are void of all guarantees if the products were not installed by an approved, Assured, Certass or Fensa installer.
- Cambs Windows and Doors are not responsible for Glazing measurements the responsibility lies with the customer as we do not provide a survey for supply only products.
11. Governing Law
This Guarantee is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
